Donation of Bontrager Trek Police Bicycles
Summary:
The Belleair Police Department has recently acquired two new Bontrager Trek bicycles from the Belleair Community Foundation. These bicycles are special order items, made specifically for police patrols and activities. The bikes cost $1,235 plus add ons, bringing the donation to a total of $2,755.
The department will utilize these bicycles to patrol the trail, where vehicles proved to be a challenge in the past. Additionally, bicycles will be used in community policing and assist greatly during special town events.
Staff is currently developing a training plan in order to expand the number of officers currently certified by the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA). End
