Background/Problem Discussion: Mr. Barris’s resume, which is attached to this item, outlines his extensive background in engineering, business administration, and sales. Mr. Barris also has a passion for historic preservation and architecture, as he is an owner of a 1927 Mediterranean Revival home on Belleair’s Historic Registry (251 Pine Road). Mr. Barris’s home recently completed the process for receipt of a Special Certificate of Appropriateness and historic tax abatement, and staff believes that Mr. Barris’s experience with that process and as a historic homeowner will add great value and insight to the Historic Preservation Board.
