Consideration of Purchase of Grapple Truck.
Summary:
Staff is requesting approval of a Peterson Lightning Loader Grapple Body mounted to a Hino 338 Body in the amount of $135,853. Both the chassis and body are being purchased through the Florida Sheriff’s Association contract. The chassis is the same chassis and cab as our rear-load packers and the Solid Waste Department is recommending the lighting loader grapple body, due to enhanced safety features and driver aids. The quote and brochure are attached.

Previous Commission Action: The Commission previously budgeted for the grapple truck’s replacement.
Expenditure Challenges: The Solid Waste Department did not purchase the appropriated truck last year, so the funds rolled over into reserve. If approved, the funds will be appropriated on the next available budget amendment.
Financial Implications: $135,583.00
Recommendation: I recommend approval
Proposed Motion: I move approval of the purchase of the grapple truck from Rush Truck Center in the amount of $135,853.
