Summary:
Mr. Robert Barris is the property owner of 251 Pine Road, a historically-designated home in the Town of Belleair. He is currently completing the final steps to obtain an ad valoreum tax exemption for improvements made to his property, as permitted by the Historic Preservation Board and the Commission.

Previous Commission Action: In November of 2014, the Historic Preservation Board and the Commission granted a Special Certificate of Appropriateness to Mr. Barris for qualified improvements on his historic property at 251 Pine Road. At that time, the Commission also granted the Town the right to enter into a covenant for a 100%, 10-year tax abatement with Mr. Barris for his proposed improvements.

At the February 27 Historic Preservation Board meeting, the board acted as the Local Historic Preservation Office, and unanimously recommended approval of the completed DOS form and exemption for 251 Pine Road to the Commission.

Background/Problem Discussion: Per the Town's historic preservation ordinance, the Commission may choose to award ad valorem tax abatements for qualified improvements on historically-designated properties. The first of these exemptions for Belleair was approved for Mr. Barris in 2014, and construction was completed for this project in December of 2016.
