Resolution 2017-07: Amending the Budget

Summary:
Staff is requesting approval of the attached budget amendment for Fiscal Year 2016-2017. The request largely records and allocates the receipt of donations and their related requested expenditures for the Recreation and Police departments.

Previous Commission Action: The Commission previously approved two other budget amendments for FY16-17.
Background/Problem Discussion:The Recreation department received donations and commitments in excess of $66,000 for capital improvements including scoreboards for the fields, game room upgrades and other facility upgrades. In addition, they received grant funding for “Girls on the Run” and a greater than expected response for their holiday donation drive.
The Police department received donations in excess of $10,000 for the purchase of safety equipment including new bullet resistant vests, less lethal equipment, and a new speed board. The commission approved the expenditure at a previous meeting, this action records the balancing entries to the budget.
Other adjustments include revenue from a debris management cost share with the golf course and carryover of reserve for a sidewalk contract awarded at the end of the prior fiscal year. Detailed information is available upon request.
Expenditure Challenges: None; expenditures are balanced on donations or previously encumbered reserve.
Financial Implications: The total balanced increase to the General fund is $119,725.
Recommendation: I recommend approval.
