Background/Problem Discussion: The requested amount is $10,000.00 which will cover the items and any unforeseen cost or shipping adjustments.
Expenditure Challenges While the department has money to cover the expenditure in other accounts, the town would be doing the associated budget amendment at mid-year. Staff is seeking approval of the expenditure with the understanding that staff intends to immediately transfer the $10,000 from the salaries line of the police budget to the equipment replacement line of the police budget and at a later date staff will bring forward a town wide budget amendment which will include the transfer of the donation money from reserves to the salaries line of the police budget, thus reinjecting the police salaries line item with the money it needs for future expenditure. This method is preferred to keep the number of budget amendments to a minimum.
Financial Implications: The expenditure will use $10,000.00 of the police donation funds x dollars.
Recommendation: Staff recommends approval
