Title: Discussion of Ahlf Property Summary: Since Mr. Ahlf has passed, the commission should decide what the town should do with the three properties. Mr. Ahlf's estate has requested 90 days to clean out the home at 2 Baybrook Pl, of his personal effects. Additionally, the tenants at 7 Baybrook Pl have also requested 90 days to vacate. Previous commission discussion considered selling the properties and utilizing the proceeds to fund ongoing capital projects. The commission will need to consider whether or not to sell the properties, whether they should be sold together or separately, and what the best method for offering them for sale would be. Summary:

Previous Commission Action: The commission previously entered into an agreement with Mr. Ahlf to buy the properties and grant Mr. Ahlf a life estate.
Expenditure Challenges : If the properties are to be sold the charter requires that the commission has an appraisal completed prior to sale.
Financial Implications: There will be minor property maintenance and upkeep required of the property. My recommendation is to retain the current groundskeeper and caretaker. Recommendation: I recommend selling the parcels, as the current Capital Improvement Plan considered the proceeds in the future anyway. Some more research should be done as to whether the parcels should be sold together or separately. I'm in the process of soliciting quotes for appraisals and could have the appraiser also opine on the matter.
