COVID Protocols for Sports Leagues

End
Body
Previous Commission Action: Staff presented a plan to return Sports Leagues for the spring at the November meeting. Staff would like to finalize the plan with dates and move forward with preparing for the season.
Background/Problem Discussion: With continued impacts from a rise in COVID-19 cases staff has continued to modify plans to include precautions and guidelines from both the CDC and local health officials. In an effort to not cancel another season staff has developed the protocols within and proceed with a full season instead of a skills based clinic.
Expenditure Challenges Expenditures would reduce if the flag football season were to be modified to a skills clinic style
Financial Implications: There is a substantial revenue difference between a sports league season and the skills clinic that was conducted in the fall. However, there is also a substantial expenditure difference between the two. Overall, the two formats net similar amount to the department.
Recommendation: To allow the return of sports leagues with proper protocols in place to reduce the risk of exposure for league participants and spectators
Proposed Motion Accept the recreation staff plan to allow sports leagues in the fall with proper protocols
