Approval of general engineering professional services from RS&H to complete an Assessment of Origin-Destination Analysis Service. This analysis will help to identify traffic patterns of vehicles coming into and going out of town.
Summary:
Staff is seeking Commission approval for general engineering professional services from RS&H to complete an Assessment of Origin-Destination Analysis Service for the Town. Using a variety of tools from traffic counts to cell user GPS data we will look at how traffic move into, around and out of town.
This directly meets Strategic Planning Goal C2 Traffic: Street designs that control speed and minimize traffic volume throughout town; C.2.1 Conduct a long-term traffic study to understand speed, traffic patterns, and volume. Action Item C.2.1.2 - Authorize the Engineer of Record (EOR) to conduct a long- term traffic study (Dependent on: C.2.1.1) (Y2-3: 2022-2023)

Background/Problem Discussion: Enter Background Here The Town Commission had previously asked staff to look at and identify the amount of "cut-through traffic" along Indian Rocks Rd as well as other routes through of town. By engaging with RS&H, the staff hopes to be able to better identify the most common ingress and egress routes that traffic takes through town.
The assessment will provide data to be able to help better inform staff of alternatives to minimize or reduce this "cut-through traffic". It can also help future traffic calming measures in upcoming Capital Improvement Projects, should the data support such actions.
Expenditure Challenges: To be expended by the Small Roadway Projects Budget.
Financial Implications: The total cost to complete an Assessment of Origin-Destination Analysis Service will be $20,289.80
