Body
Previous Commission Action: The Town Commission has previously approved several prior resolutions, RESOLUTION NO. 04-33 and RESOLUTION NO. 15-23, to approve and adopt the Pinellas County Local Mitigation Strategy plan.

Background/Problem Discussion: In 1998 Pinellas County, along with the help of 23 other municipalities located within the County, set out to help develop a local mitigation strategy. The purpose of the local mitigation strategy was to develop a "blueprint" or guide intended to provide a unified and consistent course of action needed to eliminate or reduce the impact of disasters that threaten Pinellas County and its municipalities. In addition to county and municipal government representation, the local mitigation strategy includes a broad range of public and private sector partners that can participate to share their insights and recommendations on the topics relevant to the area of their expertise. Then in 1999, Pinellas County and its municipalities adopted a unified Local Mitigation Strategy. This unified LMS plan is reviewed annually, but goes through a comprehensive review every five years and requires adoption by all participating members of any and all revisions made to the LMS since the last comprehensive review.
