Major Event Special Relief Permit - 2027 Clearwater Marathon and Running Festival
Summary:
Millenium Running is requesting a major event special relief permit for their annual ‘Clearwater Marathon and Running Festival’, which will take place on Sunday, January 31, 2027, from 7:00am - 1:00pm. The race will pass through public streets in Belleair, however there are no full road closures requested. There will be a “cone lane” for runners on the affected streets, which will close down a single lane and allow for traffic to continue flowing in the opposite direction of the course. Belleair Police, Clearwater Police, PCSO, and Sunstar Paramedics will be hired to ensure public safety. Event notification signs will be placed on the racecourse beginning on the Thursday before the event. Please see the attached course map, and a list of directional lane closures.
Code relief requests include: road closures (single lane only) and signage.
This process requires two (2) public hearings by the Town Commission. The first hearing will take place on Tuesday, October 01 and the second hearing will take place on Tuesday, November 17. Millenium Running mailed a postcard to Belleair residents that live along the racecourse, inviting their attendance and feedback at the hearings.
