Second Reading of Ordinance 602 - Solid Waste Rates

 

Summary:

 

To meet budgetary needs, staff recommends FY 2026-2027 Solid Waste rates be adjusted in the following way:

                     Residential Base fixed fee increased 5.0% from $61.27 to $64.33 monthly

                     Multi Family Base w/dumpster increased 5.0% from $28.91 per unit to $30.35 per unit monthly

                     Commercial w/o dumpster fixed fee increased 5.0% from 54.01 to $56.71 monthly

Previous Commission Action:

 

Commission approved FY 2026-2027 rate increase recommendation during September 3, 2026, first reading.

 

Background/Problem Discussion: While the Recycle contractor’s rates remained flat, the County raised tipping fees by 8%. The recommended 5% increase will provide for operations, equipment maintenance and staffing.

Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of Ordinance 602.
