Previous Commission Action: The Town Commission approved the FY 2019-2020 Annual Budget in September 2019.
Background/Problem Discussion: Staff is requesting for the budget to be amended for additional funds to be allocated for capital purchases within the Police Department. This amendment is directly due to the donation of $23,523.02 from the Belleair Community Foundation. An overview of the account’s activity is listed below:
Police Department
• Upfitted Chevrolet Tahoe from the City of Largo ($11,000)
• Radio and striping for the Tahoe ($2,400)
• One gun safe ($600)
Financial Implications: The addition of a new vehicle will result in additional vehicle maintenance costs, but ultimately reduce the consistent use of vehicles, prolonging the fleet’s lifespan. This will result in fewer vehicles being purchased overt the next few years.
Recommendation: Approval of Resolution 2020-05 Amending Fiscal Year 2019-20 Annual Budget.
