Preliminary Recommended Charter Changes
Summary:
At the previous Charter Review meeting, board members and staff discussed the following items for review:
• Updating boundaries
• Neutral terminology within the charter
• Language regarding user charges and assessments
Recommended changes:
• Section 1.01 - Inclusion of the full Watkins Road that was secured from Clearwater. Seeking review from the Town Attorney for final language.
• Section 2.09 - Addition of increasing compensation due to inflation.
• Section 2.11(2) - Addition of “assessments” to levied taxes.
• Article 7 - General provisions removed (per town attorney). Revisions are addressed in state statute.
• Section 10.01 - Altered language to state “no later than the month of May” as opposed to June.
Numbered sections and articles will be addressed and updated once the changes to the Charter have been approved.
