Capital Projects Update April 2022
Summary:
Town staff wanted to give the Infrastructure Board an update on the status of Capital Projects currently underway and in the planning phases. The projects are as follows:
1. Pinellas Ponce Phase 3&4: This project is nearing completion. The first lift of asphalt has been installed on the entire project limits. Repairs to damaged curb are being addressed before the final top lift is placed. Also, repairs to irrigations and sod restoration are actively being done. Project completion is anticipated by the beginning of June 2022
2. Indian Rocks Road Phase 1 ( Mehlenbacher Road to Poinsettia Road): This project is at the final stage of design. This project plans and specifications is up in Tallahassee for final acceptance review by FDOT. This FDOT review is necessary since it is a cooperatively funded project. The comment review period is nearing at the end of June 2022. This project is anticipated to go out for bid in July 2022
3. Carl Avenue/Shirley Avenue: The Carl Avenue portion of the project is near completion. The Shirley Avenue portion of the project is coming along, but needed some additional survey work to address tie in connections at Ponce de Leon Boulevard as well as Carl Ave. The design work will be completed by the end of June 2022 and should be ready to go out to bid in July 2022.
4. Indian Rocks Road Phase 3 ( Belleview Boulevard to Sunny Lane): Town staff has engaged RS&H staff for a cost proposal to do the design work for this phase of Indian Rocks Road. This project is currently seeking a cooperative funding source from the State similar to Indian Rocks Road Phase 1. Staff is looking to have all of the necessary pieces of the project in place while we wait for final approval of this phase of project funding in the State Budget.
